Do you know why March 14th is referred to as Pi day? The numerical value for Pi is 3.14 (in its long form, there are many more decimal places). For math and science people, this is a high holiday in the nerd community.

Although I am a self proclaimed science nerd, I am a homemaker as well and this blog is all about things around the house. So while we are celebrating Pi day, I thought I'd share three tips I've learned for making the perfect PIE!
1. For a perfectly toasted crust that is evenly cooked, brush with milk and sprinkle with granulated sugar
2. Add a few small pats of butter over the inside filling before putting on the top crust to make the inside perfectly decadent.
