The Ultimate Top Air Fryer Food List!

Hi! Welcome to the Home Ericanomics Blog! I have something new for you this week in the blog! This week I've teamed up with an online group to bring you some opinions on the best air fryer foods. Who doesn't love a good list! Here we go!

A few years ago, I decided to jump on the air fryer foodie wagon and give it a try. Since I'm the analytical type, I knew I couldn't make a kitchen purchase without research and data compilation. I talked to a coworker who just loved her air fryer. It was also highly ranked and I decided to take the plunge. I have been the happy owner of a Cuisinart air fryer ever since! Not long after my purchase, I found a community of others who also loved the same air fryer and I've been a member of the "Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Over Community" for well over a year.

This is the place to be if you want to know more about air frying, and using the bake, toast or convection features. They talk about accessories, do's and don't's and recipes all day long. So, I decided to tap into this 10k strong community for some information for you!

What are the most popular, best loved and favorite air fryer foods? What are the tried and true, must-have air fryer dishes that you've got to make in the air fryer? I posted 4 different polls in the following categories:

  1. What is the best quick snack/app to make in the air fryer from the freezer?
  2. What is your favorite whole-meat protein for the air fryer?
  3. What is your favorite side dish/veggie to make in your air fryer?
  4. What is your top sweet treat or bread item?
The results are in! The data shows that the air fryers truly are workhorses in the kitchen. Many items were added to the polls and there were some clear winners. The winner for the top snack goes to the chicken nugget, with french fries as a close second. Honestly, that was the first thing I made in the air fryer. It was amazingly quick and my kids said they tasted like deep fried. You could have sold me just on the chicken nuggets and fries!

Next up we had protein. Surprisingly, chicken won again! This time it was by a long shot. In fact, the distant second was wings. I put wings in separately because I think a lot of people look at the two differently in terms of how they are prepared and cooked (but it's still chicken). Either way, chicken wins again. I would agree with this as many of the other whole meats are greasy and make messes in the air fryer.

For the veggie/side dish category, white potatoes took a strong lead right off the bat, but by the end of the poll, asparagus was not too far behind. I have to say, I was pretty amazed at the air fryer's ability to cook up potatoes from raw! Tis the season for asparagus right now, so I'm going to have to give that a try soon too. My personal preference is to make sweet potatoes, but they were further down the list at fifth place (after broccoli and Brussels sprouts!). I know some people have issues with sweet potatoes burning easily.

Last, I polled on sweet treats and bread items. Bread can be tricky in the air fryer and I've not been brave enough to try cookies, but the air fryer community came through for me with their opinions! By a landslide, it was all in for the garlic bread! It's much more convenient and quicker to pop in some slices, than to warm up the oven, especially if you only want a couple pieces. I had a lot of commentary on cookies from frozen dough, but they were a very distant second to the garlic bread!

I am always getting great ideas from this Facebook group! If you're interested, look up the group and ask to join. Don't have an air fryer yet?
