This is an easy summer treat that you can make up ahead of time and take it to any summer event! I can't take credit for inventing this delicious dessert, but I can tell you how to put it together!
A few weeks ago I decided to make this up ahead of time and keep it in my deep freezer until I was ready to use it. I had a camping trip coming up and was hoping to test it out! It was a huge hit!
This dessert couldn't be simpler to make, store and serve! Here's what you need:
- 1 box of ice cream sandwiches (12 of the rectangular bars)
- 1 tub of cool whip
- 4 heath bars
- Chocolate and caramel syrup
I prepped an aluminum cake pan with a base of wax paper and I chose a pan that had a secure lid for storing this in my freezer for a couple weeks. Check out the pictures below! In just three easy steps, I made the dessert.
Start with a layer of the ice cream sandwiches. The wax paper worked out ok, but if the dessert sits and gets warm, the wax paper might yet yucky. The wax paper makes it easy to pull out of the pan if you want to serve it on a tray.
Once the ice cream sandwiches are down, put a generous layer of chocolate syrup and caramel and two crushed up Heath bars. The easiest way to crush these candy bars is to pound them with a rolling pin while still in the packaging! Top it off with a container of softened cool whip (easier to spread). I am partial to the cool whip extra creamy! Add more caramel and syrup and two more crushed Heath bars. That's it! I let this sit in the deep freeze for a couple weeks. I would recommend letting it sit in the freezer at least 24 hours before serving.
