I remember years ago when I was little, we always had a cardboard container of epsom salt under the sink in the bathroom. It looked like a big milk carton. I don't recall it having any scent, but sometimes mom would put us in the tub with it or have a foot soak.
I knew that epsom salt was good for relieving sore muscles, but in the last few years, I've sort of forgotten about it! It seems like everyone is all about the bath bombs and sweet smelling soaps these days. Not too long ago, while shopping in my local drug store, I got a pretty basic bag of lavender scented epsom salt on impulse. Wow, was I missing out on a relaxing bath!
Since then, I've had a few baths to sooth aching muscles and breathe in the relaxing scent of lavender before bed. Tonight, I pulled it out again, only to realize I was almost out! I will be replacing it for sure. Tonight's bath was for my youngest son. He had a twisted ankle, and I suggested the salt bath. He couldn't fathom why I'd put salt in the tub. "Does the salt float, mom?" and "Is it going to be gross?". I checked in after a while and he said, "It's nice, mom!".
Do you keep epsom salt around the house? You should! It can soothe your tired winter skin, remove toxins and relieve muscle pain. Foot soaks can eliminate foot odor too! Add in some essential oils (or buy it already scented) and you have yourself a nice relaxing bath! The good news is, epsom salt is relatively inexpensive. I've posted an affiliate link to the Amazon brand of epsom salt that I am using now!
Have yourself a wonderful bath!
