Now, just over two years later (my original post was December 2019), another pots and pans conversation came up. A family member was looking for a set and I had a lot of advice about brands, sets and go-to pots. You know, a lot of sets come with pans that no one really uses!! The purpose of this blog is to inform you, not only of the importance of selecting the right set, but also in knowing your set's warranty!
I am still very happy with the set that I purchased back in 2019. Here's the low down on the Cuisinart Chef's Classic Set 66-7, which came with the following specs:
- 8-quart stockpot, 3-quart saucepan, 1-1/2-quart saucepan (all with lids), 10-inch skillet
- Sturdy 3 mm hard-anodized aluminum with durable Quantanium nonstick coating, safe for use with metal utensils
- Riveted stay-cool steel handles
- Break-resistant tempered glass covers
- Product Built to North American Electrical Standards

I added on a few custom pieces that I knew I'd love (and I do)! I got the chili pot and the grill pan, which are the same brand and same great quality! Also Amazon affiliate links below:
So there are the pots and pans! Now for the important part. I am super hard on pans. I probably use that 10 inch skillet at least once a day and some days multiple times. It's gone in the sink piping hot (terrible), in the dishwasher (which is allowed but not advised), and left out with crud longer than it should. It truly is my work horse pan. I try to only use plastic, wooden or bamboo tools, but sometimes we use metal tongs (whoops).
I tried getting that sucker clean today with an abrasive scrubber and when all the crud came out, I noticed that the nonstick coating had come up in a couple of super tiny places. You should not use pans if the nonstick coating comes off, even if the manufacturer says its safe! Plus, I figured the nonstick coated had reached the end of its useful life, unfortunately after 2 years, albeit hard use!
I still stand by this product! Why? Today I called Cuisinart customer service direct. With my model number and description of the problem, they were able to get me a new pan on the way to me in no time flat! Do I need to send the old one back? Nope. Did I need to provide proof of purchase? I did not. Did they ask for date of purchase? No! These pans and many others have a lifetime warranty!
It really pays to check your pan's manufacturer warranty. From what I can find, a lot of pans carry the same warranty. I can't speak about the customer service for other companies, but Cuisinart is top notch!
