Laundry Pods and Sheets-What to do?

Laundry has been a hot topic around here at Home EricaNomics lately and some of my followers and friends suggested looking into laundry sheets as an alternative to liquid, powder or pods. I've decided to jump on board and go feet first! I've cancelled my auto delivery of the All Free and Clear pods and after some research, decided on a laundry sheet that I would like to test out.

Here's the break down on cost and load count for my current laundry detergent and the sheets:

All Free and Clear: I was ordering two buckets of pods (66 pods each) for a total of $20.39 on auto delivery once a month.

    • Always had more than I needed, never ran out
    • Used 1-3 pods depending on the load size
    • Kids didn't have an issue with skin or rashes with the free and clear
    • Using a 2 pods per load average, I can get 66 loads for $20.39 a month
Sheets Laundry Club: I have ordered 2 boxes to come every other month (50 sheets per box) for a total of $14.27 per box or $28.54 every two months.
    • Claim is that I can use one sheet per load or a half for an extra small load (yeah, non existent here).
    • Claim is that it's also free and clear and I will follow up with any skin issues that arise
    • Cost is slightly higher and I will have 50 sheets to use per month, as opposed to 132 pods. This should be interesting to see, as I am always storing and have extra pods on hand
So let's talk about storage and some other benefits I see to using the sheets. One thing I hate is storing the buckets of pods. I have a very small laundry room. I do recycle the buckets and have found other organizational uses for them, but they take up a lot of space.

Those pods don't always dissolve. We will see if there is any residue from the laundry sheets. I'v also noticed that if I leave the lid off the container of pods, the outer covering gets hard and doesn't dissolve as well. Also, it's no fun when one of them bursts in the bucket of pods. What a mess!

I am hoping these sheets are an economical and environmentally friendly alternative. I want to shout out to Kristi and Melissa for bringing laundry sheets to my attention. You can follow my Facebook page for updates on the new laundry sheets! I would love to hear from you! Comment below or jump on Facebook to give your thoughts.
