I have never attempted crab or salmon cakes in my air fryer! My main concern was cooking them all the way through, since many things seem to cook on the outside faster than the inside. I researched a lot of salmon cake recipes and found one that seemed simple enough. Here's the link to the recipe:

I'll admit, I've never purchased canned salmon, but it seems all the recipes call for it. I rinsed it really well and picked out a few bones (which I didn't expect to find!). The ingredients were simple-mayo, bread crumbs, eggs, a few seasonings. In hindsight, I would have preferred a bit more seasoning or spice. That will be for next time!
Execution is key here! I preheated the air fryer to 390 degrees and lowered my basket to bottom rack. I also used my parchment paper with holes to reduce mess in the fryer basket. The recipe made 4, 1/2 cup patties that were almost an inch thick! I used my olive oil spritzer to give them a nice coating.
In an oven style air fryer, it's super important to flip the patties. I air fried for 4 minutes, flipped and then finished for 4-5 minutes. Amazingly, they were cooked all the way through, but perfectly golden on the outside. Any longer and I think they would have been a bit overdone!
The recipe called for a topping, like tzatziki or yogurt. I wasn't sold on that, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it needed! I really enjoyed the dill in the patty and as a garnish with a twist of lemon. Check out the video I created on my facebook page, discussing this recipe step by step.
Let me know if you try it out! Leave me a comment, or post one on the facebook page! I would love to hear from you! Mel-I hope you try it out in your new air fryer!
